This privacy statement describes how we use data in our application. According to applicable laws, some of the data we use is considered 'personal data'. However, even if we use personal data, we usually cannot actually identify your personal identity, and our users are essentially anonymous to us.
The specific categories of data we collect, use, or otherwise process may vary by product, by purpose, and in some cases, by your location. This privacy statement specifies when, how, and why we process your data (including but not limited to personal data), as well as your rights under applicable laws.
definition
Firstly, let's define some key terms. Many of these definitions have been adapted (with changes) based on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which is a data privacy law applicable to the European Union and Norway. We use GDPR as a landmark because it directly applies to our European companies and we believe it sets the highest legal standards for user privacy. However, in some cases, for clarity, we have simplified the definition here.
Personal data: As GDPR states, 'any information related to an identified or identifiable natural person'. This includes data such as your IP address, device ID, advertising ID, and location. Below we describe how we process personal data, and we also list the specific purposes for doing so, as well as our legal basis under GDPR (these terms are defined below).
Data controller: an individual or company that decides whether and how to process personal data.
Data processor: The person who processes personal data on behalf of the data controller.
Legal Basis: The specific legal basis we use to process personal data. GDPR specifies six specific reasons for processing personal data. The most relevant to our application are as follows:
Consent: When we process personal data with your consent, it means that you have explicitly allowed us to do so.
Contract Reason: When we process personal data, it is necessary to fulfill the contract, such as providing you with the services described in our terms of service or other agreements.
Legitimate interests: When we process personal data based on legitimate interests, it means that we have some use for personal data (such as monetization, or ensuring that products work properly), which is balanced with your privacy rights.
Legal compliance: In certain circumstances, it may be necessary for us to process personal data in order to fulfill other obligations under the law, such as detecting fraudulent behavior, ensuring that you are the person you claim to be.
Application: The specific applications we provide are as follows.
Monetization: making money. Almost all of our applications can be downloaded and used for free. Therefore, we monetize our products through various means, primarily by selling advertisements within the application itself. The money we earn helps us maintain lighting, pay employees' wages, and continue to develop the most innovative and independent applications in the market. However, when we monetize applications, we never sell users' personal data to anyone.
Purpose: The specific reasons for our processing of personal data.
Process or processing: Collecting or using personal data. According to the definition of GDPR, the term 'processing' can almost refer to any operation on personal data. Below, when we have a general meaning, we will use it in this general sense and, where appropriate, use more specific terms such as "store" or "sharing".
Retention/Retention: The period of time during which we will continue to store data. Generally speaking, we do not process or store personal data that exceeds the required time, so we will delete it after a period of time. Below we have listed some more specific details about the retention period, which varies depending on the type of personal data involved and the purpose of processing.
Transfer: When personal data is sent or permanently provided to someone or a company outside the European Economic Area (or EEA, i.e. the EU plus Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein), the data is "transferred".
